“Onego-Transles” completes its 27th navigation on the Volga-Baltic waterway

In 2022, CJSC Onego-Transles shipped more than 300,000 tons of various cargoes, including 140,000 tons of timber products from the Vologda Timber Industry Group: JSC Onegalesprom, CJSC Austrofor, LLC LDK №2.

Specialists note the decrease of roundwood shipments, but at the same time the sales of sawn timber by water transport has doubled. Non-metallic (bulk) materials also saw a multiple increase in navigation in 2022. However, it could not compensate for the decrease in the volume of timber products.

Amid unstable sales of balances due to macroeconomic shifts in the timber industry, shipments in 2022 were made to new destinations: Priozersk, Sheksna and Balakhna.

Alexey Kostin, Managing Director of CJSC Onego-Transles:
“A significant event for ZAO Onego-Transles in its 27th navigation was the new experience of shipping the largest dry-cargo vessels on the Volgo-Balta – RSD59 project, which can take more than 10,000 cubic meters of lumber on board. CJSC Onego-Transles shipped two such vessels in 2022 – in June of the year “Petrotrans 5901” and in October of the year “Gennady Egorov”. In general, the staff of CJSC “Onego-Transles”, despite all the difficulties of this year, coped with their task.

Ahead of the company is the delivery of the fleet for winter storage, organization of caravan service and off-season repairs in preparation for the next navigation.
